The second youth exchange will take place in Finland at summer 2012. Both Limerick and Loimaa will send 23 young people and 4 leaders to the group meeting 21.7.-2.8.12. CIMO has already granted Youth in Action funding for the project.

CARNE 2011
The Youth Exchange of Loimaa Youth Theatre from Finland and Co. Limerick Theatre from Ireland took place in Carne Holiday Centre from 25th July to 3rd August. Two youth theatres had a great change to take part in Youth in Action programme lead by European Comission.

Over thirty kids from different situations and bases brought their acting skills to the workshops, not forgetting their lovely personalities and lifestyles. Making theatre tied people together. After shy startpoint all you could hear was kids laughing, joking and playing.

Working at the groups was inspired by The Grease-movie. The meaning was to explore young people´s life in Europe and the problems they deal with and use the Grease an a material for the work. Each group used different ways to make their own interpretation on the themes. Some of the workshop groups concentrated in improvising, others praticed movements and body language and so on.

Kids were devided in different groups depending the activity in question. There were fruit groups (social programme), colour groups (Grease workshop) or cats and dogs (skill workshops) to make sure that they got to know each other better and work together in many different combinations. Groups were facilitated by Fiona & Gerry, Lisa & Erika and also Sari & Katja. We also had a great Dance 4 life -workshop, learned to play rugby and to dance traditional Irish dances.

Last night we were shown an amazing combination of skills that were practised during the exchange.
